Living in a Landmark

Great location within walking distance to groceries, train stops, nightlife, restaurants, and shopping. The river walk is your front yard and is perfect for daily exercise needs. The apartments all have balconies for summertime enjoyment. Building has security guard 24/7 and package room with attendant. The bottom floor also has a convenience store to buy a quick meal/cleaning supplies/drinks etc.

Cons: outdated units, parking not included and expensive in the area, have to pay for laundry on 20th floor of the building.

Great Friendly Management

I have had a solid experience. No complaints. Every time I have an issue, management is very quick to respond and get it solved. Other than that, I don't have much to say. They always say hi when I walk by. Very friendly, and very responsive when I need it.

Great value for location

Large balcony spaces great for gatherings. One of the few buildings in the area allowing grills on balconies. Building is older for the area and provides a great value for residents. Across the street from downtown and close to all train and bus lines. Pet restrictions are strictly enforced

I love living there!

Magnificent view, super nice people and fast maintenance people! There's also a great rooftop on each tower - it's also one of the highest open rooftops in the City of Chicago. It is very close to the State/lake Station, which has access to the most "L" lines.

A Chicago Landmark

Marina Towers is a HUGE community - two, 60 floor towers, encompassing almost 900 units. It's a Chicago landmark and almost feels like a neighborhood in it of itself. With something that big, there are of course pros and cons, but my experience has been generally possible.

As a recent graduate, my most important consideration was living somewhere reasonably priced in a relatively safe location. I was able to get a nice 1 bedroom for under $1400 at Marina City. The location is incredibly convenient and management is outstanding. What sets Marina City apart is the balcony - by far the biggest balcony you can get in downtown Chicago at my price point. The view is flat out amazing.

The building amenities are limited, but there is a functional gym and a roof deck. Also the elevators are incredibly fast - might seem like a minor point, but its really helpful given how many floors the building has.

Would highly recommend!

Moderately Expensive but so Convenient

The apartment is small overall but very open and spacious - perfect for a couple with no kids. The location is incredible. Right on the Chicago River overlooking the water (so the view is amazing), lots of places to go nearby. My husband works a 15minute walk away from the building so he never has to deal with commuting which is also great. I hope to get a job in a similar location. Being so close to the loop, there are a lot of options.
Additionally, we have access to a room with gym equipment in the building, a laundry room and the towers often hold little events for residents like movie nights or art meetings etc. I've never been, but it's sweet that it exists. My floor is pretty empty, maybe 4 other residents that I ever see. The building seems full of young people in their 20s - 30s, and older people around 65 + but not a lot of people in between that (at least in my experience)

River North Reviews

Absolutely loving it! People are always out and about and it is a great place to enjoy with your friends! It is also close to a bunch of other great neighborhoods and so if you want to venture out, it is really easy to do so!
We love River North. It doesn't feel as commercialized as Streeterville or the Loop while still being in the thick of it. We can walk to nearly anything we could ever want. We visit the lakeshore trail and riverwalk regularly. Lincoln Park is a mile away, but that doesn't stop us from walking to the farmer's market on Saturdays (also passing the one on Division and Dearborn along the way).
Love river north! Really downtown and close to it all. Super young area with a ton of bars and restaurants. Also a quick walk to loyolas Watertown campus that I study at on the weekends.
It's great in the sense that its very central. I can get to school easily as well up to lincoln park, wicker and west loop. Also lots of walkable restauraunts and bars. BUT less green space and definitely a more "downtown" vibe
The neighborhood is relatively safe and well lit. It is great to be so close to many bars and restaurants and have close access to public transportation
An expensive neighborhood to live in, but you feel way more enmeshed in the city here than you do over in streeterville in my opinion.
This place is very touristy and often quite crowded, but it feels very safe and there is a lot to do. Restaurants tend to be very crowded but I've been to a couple that are very good - just need to make reservations in advance. There are also cheaper eating options (chipotle, etc). Within walking distance to a lot of fun places like Navy pier and the museum campus!
The River North Gallery District or simply River North, in Chicago, is in the Near North Side, Chicago. It hosts the largest concentration of art galleries in the United States, outside of Manhattan. River North has experienced vast changes in the years 1990 - 2012 including the development of vast highrise buildings, nightclubs and restaurants. River North has become one of Chicago's top neighborhoods for nightlife especially on and around Hubbard Street.

A common definition puts the River North neighborhood in the area north of the Chicago River and the Merchandise Mart, south of Division Street, east of the Chicago River and west of Wabash Avenue. Along with hundreds of art galleries, the area holds many bars, dance clubs, popular restaurants and entertainment venues.
