The Grand Ohio Review

Very nice location. It's a condo so specific apartments will vary based on the particular owner. Amenities are convenient, usually no in-unit laundry, but has gym/pool/out door tennis court.

Great Place!

A quieter building -- has a lot of different kinds of folks and families living here as well as a lot of Feinberg students (which is a total plus when you need help carrying something, if you lock yourself out, or don't want to leave your building to be social). Parking here is actually pretty cheap compared to other buildings in the area (about 200/month, varies if your landlord will give you a deal on it or can find another spot to rent from someone in the building). Spacious place, lots of storage. Quiet!!! Have never been able to hear my neighbors (simultaneously have never had a noise complaint -- I think as an older-ish building, the walls are thicker). Another somewhat plus is that it does not have central AC/heat -- it's all controlled within the unit (originally didn't know if I liked this but previously lived in a Chicago apt where the building determined when you could turn on the AC or the heat and usually there would be 1-2 weeks of slightly uncomfortable heat or cold depending on the season. Now, there's nothing stopping me from turning on the AC or the heat within minutes of each other if for some reason I needed to do that). Pet friendly too!! Also, some units (a few) have in-unit washer/dryer -- need to look at the specific unit to know. The survey wouldn't let me proceed to the next page without markign what I didn't like about the building -- I marked that it didn't have sunlight but my unit is south facing and gets quite a bit of light so disregard.

Great building

Building is very nice, elevators are fast, management is responsive, doormen are very nice, packages are managed well, amenities are nice (pool, tennis court, gym, half basketball court, grills, racquetball court) and easy to reserve. Location is very close to campus (less than 10 min walk), there are several restaurants nearby and Whole Foods is across the street. Jewel and Traders Joe's aren't far either. Lots of other med students in the building. The bus stop is across the street and the red line is a 5 min walk away

Great apartment

For location, a lot of units are on the cheaper end of Streeterville. Comes with basically all amenities (albeit most of it is older), including pool, gym (has basically everything but a barbell - but has Smith machine), steam room, basketball + racquetball court, tennis court, plenty of cardio equipment, couple of grills.

Great value overall, with plenty of med students in the building.

Highly recommend

Overall highly recommend the Grand Ohio. Lots of FSM students live here, and it's a great location that is super close to campus. The building staff are nice, and the gym is one of the better ones among apartment buildings. Note that the units are condos with private owners, so there can be a high degree of variability between units. Lower floors tend to get a lot of street noise, especially from frequent ambulances.

Well above average

Each unit is different depending on the owner so you have to search for one you like, but most are pretty nice for the price, which is on the lower end for Streeterville. Excellent location for the school and closer to River North (where most bars/restaurants are) than most of the other Streeterville apartments. The gym could be better, but it's good enough that you don't need to purchase a membership elsewhere unless you want very advanced equipment. Units have large windows, with higher-up units having better views. Maintenance and doormen are highly responsive and prompt. I never hear any neighbors through walls. Indoor parking is available for about 200/month. There is an indoor pool on the roof. The outdoor roof lacks the nice patio and amenities that many other buildings have but it does have a few grills/picnic tables, basketball court, and tennis court.

Great apartment with fantastic facilities and doormen

My unit is great, and the price was fair. The doormen are very friendly. The gym, pool, tennis courts, racquetball court, and half court basketball/volleyball court are very nice as well. The leasing office could be more helpful though as an area of improvement. I also think the gym could use some remodeling and the cardio area could use some updated equipment. The laundry room is great as well! Location is fantastic, just a block from Mag Mile. The doors and walls are quite thin though. You can hear people's conversations from the hallway and sometimes from across the hall. Some buildings provide food often and social gatherings; unfortunately, this building does not.

Amazing location, with a great View

I moved in few months ago, so I have yet experience a summer. But in that tiem I have quickly grown to love the building. First off, Streeterville is a fantasic location. We are so close to everything we could ever want. Walking distance to theaters, shopping, restaurants, and other attractions. The amenities are top notch, we have a pool, hot tub, fitness center, racquetball, basketball, tennis, a sundeck, and public grills. There is also a dog run next to the parking garage. Finally, the garage has valets for when the self park is full.

Grand Ohio

Love our building. Great location. Near tons of restaurants and grocery stores. Great gym. Staff is great. Very safe. Playroom for kids. South side gets tons of sunlight. parking garage in building, but pay $200 per month for car. The doormen are like family. The management office is always very helpful and quick to fix things.

Perfect location for Feinberg, almost feels like a small slice of a college town because so many of your neighbors will be students, residents, nurses, etc at the hospital. You do get sirens fairly often depending on where you live since the emergency room is very close. The neighborhood doesn't have too many restaurants/bars but it is walking distance to River North and Gold Coast and the rest of the city is easily accessed by public transport. Much safer than most neighborhoods in Chicago.
Love how close we are to the medical school, makes going to class really easy. A lot of students live in Streeterville so it is very easy to hangout with friends. There are also a few coffee shops in the neighborhood that are very fun to study at!
Very safe in comparison to the rest of Chicago. Great restaurant and bar scene with proximity to touristy spots, the lake, Mag Mile, and Red Line stations. However, apartments in Streeterville are often on the more expensive side.
Nice and clean and generally feel safe here. Walking distance from Lakeshore park and lake. Not as many restaurants and things to do here unlike some other neighborhoods.
Streeterville is nice. It gives you the city vibe. There are plenty of grocery stores nearby and it's right next to Northwestern graduate schools.
So much to do in Streeterville and it is close to the river and the beaches. Lots of dogs walking around. Very safe neighborhood as well.
walking distance from wholefood and other shops, gyms, bar and restaurants, dry cleaner, and 2 minute walk from hospital.
It's so convenient to be close to campus for classes. The trees and parks are also nice as compared to River North.
