Prime location

Great staff, did mess up once with rent but they fixed it (almost). Clean complex, everything is fine except the rent - too high compared to Belmont/Heights.

Nice but pricy

Apartments are nice, but not really cozy. High ceilings and large open spaces make it expensive to cool/heat. Location is great as it's close to campus and plenty of food options. Pretty expensive, but technically you're getting a lot of amenities and a good location, so it might be worth it for some people.

Lofts at Lakeview

Lofts at Lakeview is a great apartment complex. It's very safe and one of the closest to Pratt. The staff is really responsive - you can send them emails, texts, or stop by the front office and they'll help in any way they can. All of the common areas are well maintained. All of the entrances/gates (including the parking garage) are locked so you need a fob or code to get in, which prevents any strangers from coming in. There haven't been any noise problems and the residents are very friendly. There are multiple social events each month, most with free food, for the residents. They gym also offers group fitness classes, which is nice. The apartment itself was in great condition- very clean, new amenities, etc. Maintenance has also been very responsive and quick to fix anything in the apartment and common areas. The only downside is that rent is quite pricey.

Friendly Staff, Great Furnishings, Very Close to E-Quad

The Lofts at Lakeview is an upper-middle level apartment complex with very nice kitchen appliances/bathroom furnishings. The maintenance staff is pretty prompt and very friendly, as is the staff in the office. It's an easy 10-15 minute walk to e-quad and it's right next to Chipotle, TGI Friday's, and several other eateries. Free parking, and a decent fitness center with cable machines, free-weights, and aerobics room. There is a pool but it's almost always too cold to enjoy. You are unlikely to hear neighbors on either side of your apartment, but with hardwood floors you are very likely to hear the unit above you. That being said, I definitely recommend the Lofts!

very good apartment that you can walk to Fuqua

Good things:
- can walk to Fuqua
- very clean
- very quiet
- nice kitchen and private laundry
- have six restaurants near by(TGI Friday, Chipotle, ...)
- at lobby: love printer, Huge TV, Meeting room, and Chilling area( I like to hangout with friends watching sports, playing pool, bringing snack and beer.
- parking indoor

Be aware:
- no supermarket in walking distance
- grocery stores near by are in gas station and It is not safe for woman walking there alone
- rent is quite expensive compare to other apartment (you got walking distance to Fuqua) if you plan to drive to Fuqua, there are some more value apartments to consider
- Leasing officer will require some proves about your income and it is not the same for each customer and each officer making customer confuse

As convenient as you can get

Pros: 20-minute leisurely walk to class, locked garage parking, great amenities (24-hour gym, free fitness classes, on-site movie theater, 2 outdoor pools, grills and fire pit, 24-hour complementary coffee/tea/cocoa, organized social events, guest suite can be reserved 2 nights per month, reservable areas for social/work events, package service), quiet, helpful front office

Cons: the student loan budget does not cover rent for a one-bedroom (need supplemental income), maintenance can be a bit slow and lazy, need a dehumidifier in bathroom 6 months out of the year, some pet owners fail to clean up after their pets (including in the hallways, so watch out)

Lovely apartments

I really love the Lofts at Lakeview. I was initially skeptical because it is more popular to live at S9/B9 but as someone who likes to "get away from it all", it has been great. The apartments are super quiet and it turns out there is a solid Fuqua presence so I've found people to study with. It is also walking distance from Fuqua.

Some things to know: The apartments themselves are really beautiful (probably one of the nicer ones you will see in Durham). The business center is not great--the computers are old and slow and it is nearly impossible to use the printer as a result. I don't see that changing any time soon. However, the facilities in general are really nice and management is very responsive to repair requests. If it matters to anyone, you can also request to have the color of your "accent" wall changed so there is some room for personalization. Also, since it is "loft" style, the one bedrooms don't have doors on the bedroom. It is an open floor plan. 2+ bedrooms have doors on the bedrooms.

Perfect apartment, Perfect location.

Lofts apartments have the little amenities that others don't: a separate glass shower, large walk-in closets, water dispenser on the fridge, etc. It just feels nicer. The common areas are great and never too busy. You literally can't beat the location as it's only 1mi from Fuqua. I considered all local apartments and Lofts is easily the best of all worlds.

Close to campus, very spacious apartment, and nice amenities

Lofts at Lakeview is a terrific option if you would like to live within walking distance (15 minute walk) from Fuqua. The apartments are incredibly spacious, with double vanity bathrooms, huge walk-in closets, new appliances, and friendly staff.

Getting around Erwin - LaSalle

Erwin - LaSalle Reviews

430 reviews
It's been perfectly fine. People are nice but it's not much of a community, just a place where people live. Behind the Belmont which had a spate of robberies a few months back, but the Flats is further away from the main road and is better lit. So far no security incidents or concerns at the Flats. Affordability depends on which apartment complex you choose in the Erwin-LaSalle area. Wide range in rents, ranging from very expensive to very affordable depending on which one you pick.
The broader neighborhood's chief attribute is convenience to Duke. A lot of students live in the apartment complexes around here. It can be inconvenient sometimes getting to a supermarket from the neighborhood, though (eventually they're going to re-open a Harris Teeter on Hillsborough, which should mitigate this issue somewhat).
The neighborhood was perfectly fine when I started living there, but recently there have been some armed robberies in apartment buildings that are about a 10 minute walk away. However, I would like to say that I have not felt unsafe walking home at night and the security at Trinity is quite high. For example, you have to use a special key to get into the lobby (where a security guard sits after dark) and then you have to use the key to get in from the lobby to where the rooms are, and then again to get into your room. There are about 10 good restaurants within walking distance ranging from greek food to Mexican food to sushi so it's great for a quick dinner when you don't want to cook. There is also a hair salon and a manicure place, as well as a Walgreens pharmacy. We are very close to Duke Hospital and the bus systems are very accessible.
The apartments are close to campus and easily accessible through bus, bike, or walking if desired. There is a nearby Kroger that is a less than 5 min drive away just up LaSalle St. Overall, there are some older apartments further up the road that have had issues with crime in the past, but The Heights and other apartments around the area seemed to be insulated from those issues.
The food in the area is really accessible and I feel quite safe in the surrounding area, excluding the gas stations and bus stop. I've heard some odd things at night but never seen anything fishy and feel safe coming home at night. +Tons of dogs!
Lofts is right next to a few restaurants - TGIFridays, Chipotle, Enzo's, Noodles, Smash Burger, Sushi Love, etc. The Kroger grocery store is just a few minutes away, off of Lasalle. This is a quiet neighborhood.
Quiet neighbourhood. Conveniently located to West Campus and walking distance to Fuqua. Easy and healthy fast food options nearby. Close to food stores e.g. Kroger & Harris Teeter. Close to WaDuke trail.
Not the safest neighborhood and has little transit. There have been issues at other apartment complexes with safety, but Heights has been very safe. It is absolutely fine to walk around in the day here, but not at night. There are not very many restaurants or bars nearby, although downtown Durham is 10 minutes away.
