Chestnut — 8.1/10 Rating (based on 14 neighborhood reviews)
I love East Austin. There are a lot of cool bars and restaurants near by and it is fairly close to the law school by bike.

I have had a good experience in my neighborhood. It is definitely a transitioning area so I am typically aware of my surroundings but have never had any situations or challenges around here.

The neighborhood is in the middle of expanding. There are about 4 or 5 new complexes being built currently. You're also a 10-15 minute walk to the bars and restaurants on Manor which are all great options. To the left of the complex is a cute neighborhood and it's easy to get downtown.

I don't venture out into the neighborhood surrounding the complex much. I typically drive out to Mueller for errands which I don't mind because it's not too far of a drive with my car.

Overall good! A few neat restaurants and very easy to walk/ run in. Only complaint - and it's a big one - is there is a ton of construction around that starts at 7 am six days a week. Something to consider.

This neighborhood offers some access to running and biking trails and access to the good food and bar scene on the east side with minimal distance to cover. The main thing I dislike about E MLK is the excessive road noise. There are almost constantly emergency vehicles with sirens going by, very loud trucks, construction noise and debris, and either muscle cars, motorcycles, or blaring car music. Even at night there is rarely a serene moment if you are near E MLK Blvd.

I don't spend much time walking around the neighborhood, especially at night. For the most part, I just stick to the apartment complex.
