Old West Austin

Relaxed Living, Centrally Located
Old West Austin is a historic neighborhood, centrally-located north of Lady Bird Lake and west of Downtown. The neighborhood’s historic district was founded in the mid-1800s, shortly after the city of Austin was established. Today, the neighborhood is a quiet one with a relaxed attitude. Even though the town is quaint, there are still plenty of things to do. In fact the neighborhood is one of the most desirable places to live with its convenient location and attractions, including the lake, hike and bike trails, and numerous parks. If you are looking for restaurants, bars, and cafes to mingle with friends, Old West Austin delivers. Galaxy Cafe West Lynn, Caffe Medici, Nau's Enfield Drug, and Josephine House are just a few signature spots. Easy access to grocery stores is included - easy to get to are the Fresh Plus Grocery and a Whole Foods Market.

For those looking to stay active, Old West Austin has destinations for residents to stay fit or just enjoy the outdoors. In town, there is the Castle Hill Fitness Gym & Spa. For parks, there is the Bailey Neighborhood Park and Seider Springs Greenbelt. Quick access to downtown Austin makes Old West Austin a great choice location-wise. It’s perfect for college students and young professionals who don’t mind a short commute so they can live in a more traditional, relaxed neighborhood.

Old West Austin — 8.3/10 Rating (based on 12 neighborhood reviews)
It's nice to be able to walk to Whole Foods and Trader Joes for groceries. There are a lot of salons and boutique type stores in walking distance. The one downside is that there is no drug store (CVS or Walgreens) in walking distance.

We are in walking distance to a Whole Foods and Trader Joe's. You can also walk to West 6th street bars. There are a lot of running trails nearby at Zilker Park and along the river.

I love living in Clarksville! It's close enough to Lamar to still enjoy the benefits of living in downtown Austin, but it's quieter and safer. There are great restaurants and bars nearby and plenty of nice coffee shops to study at.

Lady Bird Lake is amazing and about 200 ft. away. The W 6th bar and restaurant scene is great. Bike trails are easily accessible. Trader Joe's, Whole Foods and a bus stop are all within a block.

Safe during the day- just be watchful and don't be out alone at night because it's downtown. The huge plus is that the bus for Rowling is RIGHT BY the apartment. HUGE plus.
