Living here has been great! A lot of other students live in the building are the area right around it, it’s a 15 minute walk to class, and the management is great!

Spendy but worth it

I love this building. The front office is amazing, so responsive and kind. The gym is high quality - I can actually do a full lift workout here, so I don’t have to pay for a membership somewhere else. And the gym and other amenities are open 24/7, which is great for a law student’s schedule. It is expensive, but it’s a secure building with a night guard, and the peace of mind is worth it for me.

Nice place to live

Trinity Commons is a very nice place to live next to the west campus. The leasing office and maintenance are very responsive, and I feel very safe living here.

Trinity Commons living experience

The indoor of my apartment is very nice and exactly what i wanted. Hardwood floors, standing shower, spacious living room, bedroom & kitchen area and also a clean environment with good security. The appliances are all up to date, great condition and work very well. It's quite pricey though considering the rent doesn't cover any utilities (you pay for water, sewer, electricity, internet yourself) but i guess that's the cost of convenience. I'm a grad school engineering student so proximity to west campus was a top priority for me along with apartment style and safety. They also host events for residents which is a nice perk to have.

Very happy

Great ammenities with lots of other med students. Probably has the best gym of the nearby complexes. The staff is also super friendly.

Expensive but worth it

Living at Trinity has made my time in medical school much easier. Not only is TC the closest walking distanced housing to campus/the hospital, but the my apartment is spacious, warm and comforting and allows me to really relax and feel at "home". The front office staff are the friendliest people, and they are always thinking of the residents and what they can do to brighten our day (i.e. we've had so many food trucks, free exercise classes, a makeshift state-fair and other events...even socially-distanced!).

It's been perfectly fine. People are nice but it's not much of a community, just a place where people live. Behind the Belmont which had a spate of robberies a few months back, but the Flats is further away from the main road and is better lit. So far no security incidents or concerns at the Flats. Affordability depends on which apartment complex you choose in the Erwin-LaSalle area. Wide range in rents, ranging from very expensive to very affordable depending on which one you pick.

The broader neighborhood's chief attribute is convenience to Duke. A lot of students live in the apartment complexes around here. It can be inconvenient sometimes getting to a supermarket from the neighborhood, though (eventually they're going to re-open a Harris Teeter on Hillsborough, which should mitigate this issue somewhat).

The neighborhood was perfectly fine when I started living there, but recently there have been some armed robberies in apartment buildings that are about a 10 minute walk away. However, I would like to say that I have not felt unsafe walking home at night and the security at Trinity is quite high. For example, you have to use a special key to get into the lobby (where a security guard sits after dark) and then you have to use the key to get in from the lobby to where the rooms are, and then again to get into your room. There are about 10 good restaurants within walking distance ranging from greek food to Mexican food to sushi so it's great for a quick dinner when you don't want to cook. There is also a hair salon and a manicure place, as well as a Walgreens pharmacy. We are very close to Duke Hospital and the bus systems are very accessible.

The apartments are close to campus and easily accessible through bus, bike, or walking if desired. There is a nearby Kroger that is a less than 5 min drive away just up LaSalle St. Overall, there are some older apartments further up the road that have had issues with crime in the past, but The Heights and other apartments around the area seemed to be insulated from those issues.

The food in the area is really accessible and I feel quite safe in the surrounding area, excluding the gas stations and bus stop. I've heard some odd things at night but never seen anything fishy and feel safe coming home at night. +Tons of dogs!

Lofts is right next to a few restaurants - TGIFridays, Chipotle, Enzo's, Noodles, Smash Burger, Sushi Love, etc. The Kroger grocery store is just a few minutes away, off of Lasalle. This is a quiet neighborhood.

Quiet neighbourhood. Conveniently located to West Campus and walking distance to Fuqua. Easy and healthy fast food options nearby. Close to food stores e.g. Kroger & Harris Teeter. Close to WaDuke trail.

Not the safest neighborhood and has little transit. There have been issues at other apartment complexes with safety, but Heights has been very safe. It is absolutely fine to walk around in the day here, but not at night. There are not very many restaurants or bars nearby, although downtown Durham is 10 minutes away.
