Good units, bad management
Management is very stingy and inflexible. They put in arbitrary charges when they don't get their way (e.g. students putting furniture in the hallway - $200 per piece of item in hallway; students bringing more than 2 guests into the common area on 6th floor lounge - $145 per hour for not booking the amenity)
The unit itself is great and modern

Good place to live
I've generally enjoyed MILA. I find that the apartments, amenities, and management (mainly the front desk) are worth the premium to MPP.

Love it here
Great building. Door staff is awesome, repairs are done super quickly (though it's a brand new building and honestly I've only ever had to fix a broken closet door) and pet facilities (dog run, dog grooming area) are always super clean.
One thing - my rent is WAY higher than comparable units right now. Try to take over a current 2Y's lease OR sign a lease not starting in July / August to not get gouged on pricing. My unit is way cheaper now but, of course, not going to move mid-2Y.
Also, MILA's walls are SUPER thick. Didn't think I would care about this til a) hung out at MPP, which is essentially a constant party you can hear through the walls and b) I heard the other dogs barking on my floor. You can hear them in the hallway, but inside the apartments, it's TOTALLY SILENT. Game. Changer.
Michigan + Lake is a lame neighborhood for everyone, but MILA's proximity to MPP / 73 / MDA and the train to Harper / walk to Gleacher is worth it. Don't live further away, even if the neighborhood is cuter. Your friends are here and you'll become a silent 200 if you live somewhere else.

Great Building
No complaints. MILA's units are a bit small (closets are small) for the price but the staff is super helpful, the building is about as pet-friendly as you can get on Michigan Ave, and the units are well maintained. Dog run is clutch.

MILA One Bedroom
If you're willing to spend a little more than some older buildings, this building is quite nice. It's pretty new and I've almost never had any issues with heating, appliances, etc. The employees here are very friendly and helpful. I frequently use the gym in the building, which saves me money on a separate gym membership. The building is dog-friendly so you should expect to regularly see dogs here.

The Loop Reviews
Very close to the lake and navy pier
Great park surrounded by all the buildings.
There’s good supermarket that has everything. A couple restaurants and coffee shops are also there.
That being said, if you're anywhere near State St. or the Mag mile, there's pretty much people around at any given hour. It's fun to live downtown because the streets are bustling with interesting people, sometimes there's live music on street corners and there are a lot of restaurants and shops.
