Deacon's Station reviews and highlights
- a little overpriced
- excellent shuttle service to and from Wake Forest
- well maintained
Not Ideal
This place is SO overpriced and does not follow through with anything they promise.
We are notified sometimes with only an hour's notice that the bus will not be running until further notice. How do you expect students that rely on the bus to get to campus to be able to get to class without this service? The schedule is also horrendous. If I want to make it to an 8am, I have to be on the bus at 7:05am!
The furniture is ripped, the carpet is stained, and the fixtures don't work half the time. The fuses pop daily if you have someone in the kitchen and someone upstairs. They won't do any updates! We are really clean people, but we still have tons of spiders and bugs inside because they won't get any pest control treatment.
The gym is disgusting and is always in disarray. They clean it maybe once a week, and the equipment is just thrown around the place.
Our neighbors blare loud music EVERY night and have cars from non-residents parked in the closest spaces for days at a time without a permit. They also blatantly break the community rules, such as leaving trash at the front door every day, which the neighborhood cats rip apart and spread across our doorway. The leasing office does NOTHING when we voice our complaints.
They try to claim it is student-only Wake housing, but a large percentage of the residents attend Winston-Salem State, including our horrendous neighbors. This means the school schedules don't coincide, so during their homecoming week and other days off they throw loud parties while we try and sleep for our midterms the next day.
This is the WORST experience I have ever had leasing an apartment. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone.

Nice, but pricey
Deacon's Station is a nice place to live...if you are willing to pay the price. Had I known of cheaper options just a mile further from campus, I would have taken them for sure. On the bright side, the apartments or almost new and are fairly well maintained. You have an individual lease so you are not responsible for your roommates. They also have two wonderful bus drivers who will be your friend and even hangout with you outside of hours. These bus drivers seriously make Deacon's Station a great place to live.

Would look elsewhere
Looks great from the outside. Close to campus, shuttle that takes residents to and from campus, advertised as having all utilities paid for in the monthly rent. HOWEVER, once you move in, the management company makes it their mission to make your life more complicated. Our apartment has been charged overages every single month, even when two of the roommates were NOT living there because they were on internships. The maintenance (who are awesome people honestly) found that the hot water heater was nearly boiling the water for the entire month of December, a problem that we could not have addressed as we were gone, and no consideration was taken in our utilities overages. Personally, I was fined for a parcel of trash found outside of a trash can that had my name on it DURING A HURRICANE WARNING (maybe, on the off chance, the wind blew it out of the trash? Just a thought). I have had my car windshield broken, found the driver door to my car ajar with a key inserted into the ignition as if someone was trying to steal my vehicle, and personal items such as my iPod stolen from the vehicle. My vehicle is not the exception, actually the standard, for Deacons' Station as my roommates car and many other people that I know have had their vehicle broken into and items stolen. Overall not satisfactory for the amount paid to live in this apartment complex.

Deacon Station - Good location, lots of MSA students
Apartment complex is majority grad students with many MSA students. Good location to campus with shuttle that goes to campus regularly. For the price, not a great value.

Fairly good. The best part is that a lot of MSA live here.

Convenient for Wake Students, but not a great value
This apartment complex is only convenient for Wake Forest students. There have been numerous car break ins. Not a great value for what you pay.

Great way to meet new people, a little pricey
Great environment for friendship, a little overpriced. Could find some better options, but this is a popular place for graduate students

Price and Roommates
Deacon's Station pairs you with random roommates. There's no system in place to deal with any issues and people can simply be added at their leisure. All utilities are not included as they advertise and you can expect regular utility overages based on the total complex average. I would not recommend this to prospective students.
