Great Downtown Location in an Updated Apartment Community
We chose to live at 605 West End after a thorough apartment search of all the different neighborhoods and communities. When we leased, the management company had changed over that same weekend, so I think rent prices may have increased slightly, but it still seems to be lower than many of the surrounding buildings. As a result, the new company has been doing renovations to the building common areas which have really elevated the atmosphere.
It is a perfect location to get to Fuqua (~8 minute drive) and the 9th street area, and we can walk almost anywhere downtown. Parking is included and there are plenty of spots.
Our biggest complaint would be that sometimes maintenance seems to take their time with getting to our tickets, but if we call and follow up with the office, they seem to get handled ASAP. Additionally, the closets aren't huge in either bedroom, and same with kitchen cabinets, but we were able to work through this with some storage containers under the bed and purchasing a simple rolling kitchen island.

Poor connection
Poor internet connection, which we could not choose the service provider. It has not been improved and still risks the access to important events such as job interviews.

I enjoy it
The facility is nice. I wish I had known that the age demographic is on the older side, because I value being able to spend time with other Duke students.

loud place but safe
It is near a major street and highway, so it is loud.
Lincoln management just took over this year and the management is not great. There are issues with internet downtime, long wait for maintenance, and on going constructions. The only good thing is that the police station is right next to it and the safety is suppose to be good.

Great downtown apartment option near Brightleaf
One of the cheaper downtown apartment options with close proximity to Brightleaf/East Campus as well as central downtown. Convenient parking garage, awesome pool, and the new management staff is fantastic. Highly recommend.

Bell West End is nice but PRICEY!
I like living at Bell West. It is close to campus, downtown, and ninth street. I like that the building is secure. The only downside is that it is on the higher end of prices for Durham.

Happy resident
I've lived in Bell West for four years and love it. The leasing office and maintenance staff are super friendly and responsive, the amenities are very nice, location is great, and the residents are generally more of a mix of young professionals plus some grad students and some families (so great if you don't want to be near tons of undergrads plus want a little separation from classmates on Ninth Street).
