605 West End reviews and highlights
- convenient amenities
- always parking available
- friendly staff
- awesome location near bars and walking distance to downtown
Solid value for money near downtown durham!
This is a great option if you want to save 300-700 per month as compared to living near the 9th street area. The total rent included internet, cable, trash pick up outside your door and covered parking. Maintenance is responsive.

Great Living, Not so great mandatory add-ins
For the most part, this is a good spot to live in if you want to be away from the loud Fuqua scene on 9th. Maintenance issues are attended to ASAP, walls are noise proof, management is very responsive, and it's close to the restaurant scene downtown. Kitchen and bathroom are modern.
On the downside, I pay for valet garbage service I never use due to the time I come back home daily. I also pay for cable I don't need. I don't even have a TV.

A great option
I lived here last year before moving into my current house. I wanted more space since I was moving in with my girlfriend and pet, but I enjoyed my time at Bell West. Great location - close to campus and downtown Durham! Staff is nice and responsive. Good amenities.
Negatives (Take with a grain of salt since it's been 6 months):
-Spotty internet at times
-Fire alarm issues, but management said they had these sorted out
-Occasional train goes by at night. Personally I got used to it after a few nights. You're not directly by the tracks, but you're close enough to hear

Convenient Downtown Durham property
Easy access to the highway, walking distance to Downtown Durham, and a quick drive to Fuqua. This property is outside of the main Fuqua bubble but definitely a convenient property for

A great living experience in Bell West End
Easy leasing process, apartment as described, both apt and other rooms very well maintained, excellent communication with management, all maintenance work was completed the next day, location very safe - next to police station, easy transportation to Fuqua Business School especially during working hours, groceries and many restaurants and bars in walking distance. Only negative would be that uber or lyft would be needed from and to Duke in after hours, yet the expense is not significantly higher than living in a location closer to Duke

Good value and location
Bottom-Line Up Front: Cool apartment facing east with nice neighbors and ability to see fireworks from the baseball stadium.
Customer service at the apartment is very good and Gabriel was very helpful in getting us to get transitioned to North Carolina. The apartment is conveniently located right off the 147 for easy highway access, it's a quick drive to Duke, there's a co-op nearby for groceries, and we are able to easily walk to downtown Durham for food/bars. Also, this is the closest apartment to Amtrak/bus station.
The apartment has a locker system for receiving packages so you don't have to worry about signing for things and going to the office during normal business hours. Also, maintenance staff is extremely helpful with fixing things within 1-2 business days (ex// garbage disposal, replacing light bulbs, appliances)
The parking garage is easy to use without assigned spots, and generally, there are always spaces available on the higher levels even late at night. Community areas are good spaces to study in, I can grab coffee 24/7, and the gym is spacious.
Pool area is also very fun to hang out at during the summer with outdoor TVs and BBQ grill.

Great downtown option
The managers of this property bought it off the previous management company, and have since done a lot to improve problem areas. They have completely redone all common areas, and they are always undertaking little projects to improve the property. Staff is friendly and quick to respond to emails. Maintenance can be requested online and in my experience, they have always come the same day. It's an equal drive to campus as S9/B9 with B9-like finishes in the apartment. No Duke bus or BCC here, though. Walkable to downtown, which is a huge plus, while being a little cheaper than surrounding buildings.

Established apartment managers who manage a well located property
I lived there for a year and a half. For the first half of that, I was under one group of management. When bell west end came and took it over, the property improved significantly. They are great people who are willing to help you and speak with you. The building is relatively new so things are very nice. Great pool, gym, and study rooms. The location is even better because it's toward downtown which means you're a walk away from the heart of Durham which gives you the full experience. It is still close to campus and is an easy 5 minute drive to towerview. I commuted by the bull city connector but there are many more options if commuting is a worry of yours. I really enjoyed living here because it gave me a different taste of the Duke experience that many students didn't get to witness.
