Coast

It is a little far from campus, but commuting is easy with the intercampus shuttle and living in the city is so much fun. The building is great and has so many amenities and nice spaces. The view from this building is incredible!!

Coast

I love living here. I chose it based on the location (moved with my boyfriend who works in Evanston so we needed to be halfway between there and Hyde Park). Also it is right along the 2 and 6 bus lines which bring you to Hyde Park. All the apartments are modern, have floor-to-ceiling windows, have in-unit washer and dryer, have a balcony, and allow pets. The amenities are also a huge plus along with the great location right downtown. Would definitely recommend!

Great Amenities

Coast at Lakeshore is spacious, the apartments have balconies, and a washer and dryer. I love that there is so much closet space and natural light, which saves on electricity in the long run. The living area in my studio apartment is slightly small, but the kitchen is nice, as well as the dishwasher

The Loop Reviews

Love the neighborhood! As long as you don't mind an influx of tourists in the summer, it's a great place to live. It's a quick walk to Millennium Park & the lake. It's also very easy to get to the River North area. It's a central area for the CTA and walkable to the Metra. Some restaurants are closed early and on weekends, but there are more places open the closer you get to Michigan Ave.
The Loop is an unlikely place to live but I love it. You are in the heart of the city, close to every L line possible, very good restaurants and walking distance to River North without paying River North prices for apartments. Apartments are smaller throughout the neighborhood but if you are an urbanite and don't mind limited closet space you will love it here. Mostly everyone is walking distance to work.
The Loop has pros and cons. Living in the Loop is nice because during the day up until about 8 p.m. there are people walking around the streets which is nice because you feel more secure walking. However, on weekends and after a certain time at night it empties and it can be a little eerie.

That being said, if you're anywhere near State St. or the Mag mile, there's pretty much people around at any given hour. It's fun to live downtown because the streets are bustling with interesting people, sometimes there's live music on street corners and there are a lot of restaurants and shops.
The loop is always bustling and is a fun place to live. We are right near the lake, and it's super easy to get to State or Michigan. It's a pretty central location. The only downside is it's a very touristy area, and to go to the bars and restaurants we like we have to walk over about 15 minutes to River North.
The "bucket boys" place themselves at the intersection of Michigan and Randolph and often play all day. The sound is so loud and irritating that it often wakes me up on the weekends and I am unable to study in my apartment. The only way to get them to leave is to call the cops and even then the cops will take forever to do anything.
Great location close to blue, brown, green, pink, orange and red lines. 10 minute walk to State St., 5-10 minutes to River North, 15 minutes to Michigan Avenue. Grocery stores aren't really walkable but most people in the building use PeaPod/Instacart. Safe to walk around at night. A lot of new restaurants (quick service) opening in the area.
The apartment is in a business area so most things immediately nearby shut down after about 7 on weekdays and aren't open on weekends. It's very easy to get elsewhere in the city though to more exciting neighborhoods, the centrality is why we chose it.
The neighbor is a growing area. There are several new restaurants which has made it nice! Transportation is so easy with everything steps away.
