The property manager does not

Our lease started a month into the school which stressfully forced us to sublet while also getting acclimated with classes.

We moved into new units

Maplewood

Of the two main apartment complexes Johnson students tend to live at, I'm glad I chose Maplewood as it was the right fit for me.

Collegetown Terrace has a better gym, more of a party/dorm-like vibe, and has a shuttle to campus that absolutely comes in handy.

Maplewood is a little bit further away, but the units are newer/larger and feel more upscale. As an older student, this made the adjustment back to student life feel a little less jarring. I also love that pets are welcome, so there is a vibrant community of dog owners here. It's quiet and spacious

Cons of Maplewood: Management is slow to respond when you need something fixed, Recycling/Garbage bins are on opposite sides of the complex so it's annoying to toss things, not a lot of restaurants near by.

Happy as can be

My experience so far has been great. The apartment is really nice and appliances are new. My only complaint is the responsiveness of management

Overall good experience

Maintenance order requests can take a long time to be addressed, but other than that, Maplewood is in a great walkable location and is a newer building. The price is also more reasonable than other apartments in the area (especially for the quality). Pet friendly is also a plus.

Overall great new apartments

New buildings and amenities, washer/dryer in unit is a huge plus. Maintenance requests take a while though and after hours staff can be hard to reach.

Good for money

Affordable and use tocampus. Takes time for them to fix stuff. Cheaply made but you get what you pay for.

Great place, but room for improvement

Maplewood is great. You're close to campus and surrounded by other students. It's a great place to pet owners, and there's a strong network of dog owners who support each other.

It can get loud, especially late at night, on weekends, and during big events. You can hear the band in the football stadium from your apartment.

Management is understaffed and slow to respond to issues.

Transportation can be tough. There's one bus that goes to campus and you're far from everything but Collegetown.

Great space, brand-new, good value

Our townhouse is amazing and huge - laundry in-unit, 2 full baths (including bathtubs!), huge common area. We are on the far end of Maplewood, which adds 5-10 minutes walking to our commute (20-min walk to Sage) - but, we also have a view of trees from our windows, instead of other buildings. There are also tons of amenities - beautiful gym, free starbucks coffee in the community center, hammock garden, etc.

That said, some apartments and townhouses don't have as much space - and there's no way to know until you move in. Management isn't very responsive.
