Alaris Village Review

This place is just not a good place to live. The management is bad, the people who are in the complex are also ridiculous. No one picks up after their dog, they never put the trash in the trash compactor, they park all over the lines, etc.
Management does nothing about it either. We’re supposed to have a gate for security and it’s been broken for almost 2 years!! If moving wasn’t such a hassle with a dog and having so much stuff I would’ve been gone long time ago.

Don't get what you pay for!

I have lived at this complex for two years now. The entire past calendar year the entrance gate to the complex has been broken. The gate was removed in its entirety and has not been attempted to be reinstalled. Despite the fact that many of us chose this complex for its gated community feature, nothing has been done to remedy the problem. Further, our rent still increased despite the missing gate.
Maintenance is lousy and doesn't put much effort into fixing anything. It's almost impossible to get a hold of management quickly. The pool is nice but sometimes dirty, they also tend to open the pool late into the season and management closes it often.
No one in the complex cleans up after themselves. There is dog poop all over the complex year round. The garbage compactor is always littered with trash, people will just throw their whole garbage bags near the compactor but not actually put them inside. Management does nothing to deter this behavior.
My apartment is pretty spacious with lots of sunlight (I have a one bedroom with a sunroom). However, I only have one closet in the whole apartment which makes storage hard. The rent is less than a lot of my other law school friends who live in other complexes, but you get what you pay for.
The area is fine, it's close to school and nice that it's close to the target, but there is a lot of homelessness in the area. I wouldn't say it's the safest, there have been multiple car break-ins while I've been living here. Another reason why it's so unfortunate that the entrance gate still has not been fixed.

Good Apartment

I've really enjoyed living at Alaris. The amenities aren't great; the machines in the gym don't always work, and the pool is frequently closed. Still, for what I needed, Alaris has been a great place to live. It's reasonably priced, and it has lots of space. I also appreciated that it is so close to campus and that it is pet-friendly. The complex is quiet and peaceful, although not at all social if that's what you're looking for. Maintenance has always come when I needed them, and management was responsive when I needed to contact them about my lease. Overall, I would recommend living here.

Alaris Village Review

I lived at Alaris for my first year, and have renewed my lease for my second year. That being said, Alaris is not as advertised. The entrance gates are always broken. I have lived at Alaris for 14 months now and the gates have been broken for 12 of those months. I wanted to live in a complex with gates for security; however, they are nonexistent.

Security is a concern at this complex. There have been multiple car break ins while I have lived here. However, I have not heard anything about apartment break ins. Maintenance is somewhat quick to fix problems; however, they don't always do the best job.

With all that being said, I still chose to renew my lease. My car has never been broken into and I feel relatively safe in my third floor apartment. However, I would never walk around the complex at night alone. My apartment is very spacious for the rent compared to other complexes in Winston. I opted to have a sunroom in my apartment and that really brightens up the space.

The pool is nice. However, staff is picky about when you can swim and it was closed multiple times this summer with no reason provided. The gym is tiny, it's uncomfortable for more than two people to be working out at one time and the machines are always broken, especially the treadmills.

Residents never pick up after themselves. The trash compactor is always surrounded by trash that people neglected to put inside. Further, people never pick up after their dogs and the complex is littered in dog poop.

Fair all around

Solid community, a stop on the Wake Line and still close to campus, Target, and Market Walmart.
Gate and pool are finicky but great when they work.
Unit was not in the greatest condition (drains and other little fixture damage, replaced the dim lights) but I wasn't expecting too much on short notice. Biggest issue is with the single trash compactor in the "middle" of the community, no other dumpster locations. It can be a bit of a walk depending on what building you're in, and trash will pile up onto the sidewalk on the weekends.

Good for the price

My apartment is very spacious for the price, I also enjoy the pool and that it is pet friendly. I have the one bedroom with the sunroom, and I love how much light it lets in. It is super close to school, it takes me about five minutes to get from my front door to the parking lot at school. I haven't had any issues with management. There are four other people from my section who live in Alaris, but there are a lot of families that live there too. All of my neighbors in my building are families.
However, it does not have much storage at all. I have a one bedroom and the only closet in the whole place is my bedroom closet. Sometimes I do not feel the safest at my apartment, during my first week living here there were some car break ins. I picked Alaris because it was gated, but the gate stays open long enough for at least 3 cars to follow through. So, the gate doesn't do a great job of keeping anyone without access out. During the day I feel fine, I have just been a little wary since getting the email about the car break ins.

Decent, great location, but terrible maintenance

I have lived in Alaris for all three years here at Wake, and it certainly has gone downhill each year. I will say that my apartment itself and the location are two great points, but the maintenance and amenities are a low point. The gym is small and most of the machines don't always work properly, and the grounds are not properly maintained - there is often trash everywhere, the gate is usually broken, etc. So, I would say that for the price and the location it is good, but Alaris certainly is not the best.

Alaris Village Apartments Review

It is liveable, but the management doesn't take much care in the cleanliness and living environment overall.
