Affordable & within walking distance
Piedmont terrace has been a great option for my roommate and I. It’s much more affordable than some of the downtown options, and I can still walk to a few restaurants and bars nearby and in the five points area. There are also a few convenience stores within walking distance. The area, in my opinion, is safe to walk around in, and I often do. I see a lot of people walk with their dogs and kids.
The walk to Volker hall is about 15 minutes, and I don’t have to walk uphill much. Parking is usually not a hassle unless my neighbors have a lot of guests. There is plenty of sunlight in my living room/kitchen area during the day, which I love for my plants. And my view of the Vulcan is perfect!
Maintenance and management both respond to requests really quickly. We had a problem with bugs for a little while, but it wasn’t that severe. I will say that the area around the apartment buildings is not well-kept. Some people leave trash in the alley by the apartment buildings. My neighbors can be pretty loud, but usually that’s only on weekends.
If you’re looking for something affordable, I think piedmont terrace is a great option. I’ve made friends with a few of my neighbors, and I like that there’s such a variety of people that live here. There are a lot of students, as well as people who are middle-aged and retired. It doesn’t have the amenities that other more expensive buildings have, but it fits my needs well.
