Expensive, but nice to be near most of Kellogg

Good to be near many other Kellogg students, particularly in the winter. Building is expensive and has been riddled with elevator (still frequent) issues and internet (not frequent lately) issues.

Poorly designed building and bad management

Most of the units are poorly designed with columns in the way of where couches should be. You have to use your key to get upstairs which means that you have to go downstairs to let your guests up and receive your delivery food. There's no doorman in the west tower, meaning guests are stuck in the cold until you go get them. Additionally there is no one to receive packages on the west side, meaning that packages are often left out in the open. If you have them delivered to East tower, the post office will often get confused and return to sender. The apartments are poorly constructed and the refrigerators they chose are terrible and have little usable space. The AC units are difficult to program to get just right and are very loud when pushing air.
The only saving grace is that it's basically a Kellogg building so most of your friends are less than a 5 minute walk away indoors

Popular Place for Kellogg

There are a lot of Kellogg people at E2 which makes both the social and academic life easier (can hang out with friends and also have group meetings here). Top amenities (pool, grill, gym, basketball court, etc.) and located near both Purple Line and Metra. New building so doesn't really have any maintenance issues but if anything needs repaid, the staff usually fixes it within 24 hours which is great.

Love it, but expensive

I really love living in E2, especially because I am living alone and there are many other Kellogg students in the building. I love my apt and the building has been great, but it is pricier than many of the other buildings in Evanston.

Overpriced, decent location, incompetent management

Loads of Kellogg students live here which is nice / convenient, but the apartment units, especially studios/1brs, are extremely overpriced and not worth the value. Apartments lack storage space and finishes are cheap. Elevators seem to break at least once every other week. Management was difficult to work with during lease process.

E2

Building is really nice, and has worked out some of their kinks. However issues still arise. Generally management has been responsive. Gym could be better (small) but common areas and pool deck are awesome.

Downtown Evanston has everything you need. E2 is walkable to campus, a Target, and plenty of restaurants, as well as Metra and L stations to get to Chicago. Right across the street is a Subway, a Thai restaurant, and a pizza place, plus there’s a 7-Eleven about a block away, so you’re very close to options if you need food in a pinch.
Close to downtown Evanston but a bit far from E2/the reserve. One of closest apartments to Trader Joes/Whole Foods/Jewel Osco while also being close to campus. Very close to the lake!
Downtown Evanston has everything you need from a downtown including grocery stores, restaurants, and convenience stores.
Downtown Evanston is great - plenty of great food within walking distance, Metra and El trains right nearby, a really nice place to be. Only downside is it's far from school and the only truly walkable grocery store is a Whole Foods, which can get expensive. Overall, wouldn't want to live elsewhere though.
Close to grocery stores and restaurants. Very easy access to Lake Michigan as well!
There isn't much to do here, but that's true pretty much everywhere in Evanston. We're in walking distance to all of "downtown" Evanston, so restaurants / fast food / subway, etc. It's a slightly longer walk than desired to Kellogg, but that's fine.
The apartment is central to downtown and is walking distance to most bars, restaurants, shops, beach, etc. Evanston is a bit of a sleepy town (especially during the pandemic...I've been told it was much more vibrant pre-pandemic).
I live just south of the main downtown area, and it's the perfect intersection of being close to the action but also a bit removed when you want some quiet. I like being a in a more residential pocket, so there is slightly less foot traffic and really nice areas to walk around with a dog, etc.
