Millennium Park Plaza Review
Love MPP! Not the nicest building but definitely the best to live in.

Social Scene is Unbeatable
The amenities might be a tad lacking but the strong social scene (Booth students) more than makes up for it!

its aight
All I wanted was an apartment with AC and Heat.
If you're looking for no frills, then MPP is for you. It is quite convenient especially for first years to meet each other or stop by your friends' place real quick. I'd highly recommend for first years to live in MPP and after that move to a nicer place. In your first year, its important to build those friendships and living in the same building as all your friends definitely helps. It might sound trivial at first because MILA and 73E is so close by, but when its pouring rain or freezing cold outside, you won't want to walk over there. Same for the train. Its ten steps outside of MPP, but 2 crosswalks away from MILA and 73E, which is farther than you think when you walk in the rain. I didn't realize how inconvenient it would be for me to not have a washer and dryer. I used to leave all my clothes in the dryer until I had free time to fold them, but you can't do that here. The amenities like the gym and pool aren't that great, but if you are recruiting for IB or consulting - you probably won't use them that often until February. Since MPP is so cheap, you can live here and then get a membership at Lakeshore. Same for the laundry, MPP is cheaper than MILA and 73E, so you can probably pay to get your laundry done and folded. The best views are the 3 bedrooms ending in 04 and 03. It gets very noisy during the weekend - terrible singers singing loudly, drummers, and Mexican Independence week. If you value your sleep or afternoon naps, I'd live above the 30th floor to avoid these noises.

You don't come for the building, you come for the community ;)
MPP is like a dorm, but in a good way (if that's what you're looking for!). ~80% of Booth students live here so it's very handy for study groups, house parties, movie nights etc. Above the 20th floor noise from the street is relatively ok (I started tuning out ambulance sirens and the like) but if you're not a city person / lived in the countryside the difference will be noticeable. The location is both a pro and a con: 15s away from the train station to go to campus and very central, but all restaurants close by 8pm (lots of options across the river 15-20min away though). Management took a while to respond during move-in period (i.e. Aug - Sept when everyone is moving in for the school year) but the maintenance crew was pretty responsive after that. Closet space is good for the master bedroom but more limited for the other bedroom (though if you're an international student coming in with 2 suitcases it's enough). The building and amenities (pool, gym etc.) are quite old but apartments are spacious.

MPP is Meh
It sucks! Water pressure is quite low!!

No complaints - great for Boothies
Better square footage, upkeep, finishes, and amenities — at a much better price — than you can get in NYC, San Francisco, Austin, etc.
On top of that, MPP is I ncredibly conveniently located for access to the lake, the lakeshore trail, Millennium Park, grocery stores, restaurants, bike lanes, stores, and public transit… the Metra station is literally across the street and it takes 2 minutes (no exaggeration) to go from the lobby down to the train track for the 15-20min train to campus.
It’s also great when it comes to the Booth community, because so many students live here, in this building, or within one block of here. It’s luxurious to walk to study groups, dinner parties, or apartment parties in your slippers, without a jacket.

Fine Apartment While in School
This apartment is filled with students. Fine place to live when you have no income coming in and have to live here. Otherwise, you could get way better bang for your buck living elsewhere

Good for Wallet and your Social Life
The apartment is much better than anticipated! My views are AMAZING, and I only pay $1120 a month. The kitchen is functional, there’s lot of space, and I love being able to go to every pregame without leaving the building.

MPP is very livable
MPP is fine to live it, if you’re coming from Boston or NYC, the apartments are very spacious. The amenities are not good, but who needs them as a grad student??

Very close to the lake and navy pier
Great park surrounded by all the buildings.
There’s good supermarket that has everything. A couple restaurants and coffee shops are also there.
