Collegetown Terrace

There is a shuttle that runs to campus every 10 minutes during the week.

Pros and Cons

Cons - Walls are very thin, kitchen is shared by up to 4.5 people which causes messes, heating is controlled by a single console so consensus needs to be reached on an agreeable temperature, internet goes out from time to time.

Pros - Shuttle bus to campus is reliable and useful, a new weekend service to grocery stores is appreciated as well.

It's close to the school, there is a shuttle that takes you to campus. It's a very convenient place. There are many study rooms in the buildings as well.

Collegetown Terrace

For a 1st year MBA student it is an easy transition to live at CTT. Close enough to walk to class (uphill though) or you can take the shuttle.

CTT

Clean and reasonably well-maintained. Pricey but it includes perks like buses to school and wegmans which is useful especially when it’s snowing outside.

Great Ammenities with Abismol Management

The complex has well maintained amenities (gym, group rooms, bus route to campus), but poor management. Upon signing my lease I was informed a 24 hour notice needed to be given for any entrance into my apartment unit for showings and general maintenance (excluding emergencies). However, during my stay I was informed that they are only required to try to "notify me as early as possible", but that no 24 hour notice was required. Furthermore, I then figured out they went into every apartment over winter holidays without notice to the tenants.

Great combination of amenities

For me, CTT has been a great combination of experiences. First, the location is midway between campus/Collegetown and the Commons. As such that makes it accessible to both communities. Secondly, the gym and shuttle to campus are great for day to day living. Third, the availability of covered parking is great when we deal with snow and rain. Fourth, as a new complex it is pretty clean and neat. Overall, CTT meets my needs completely.

Reliable, Safe, and Convenient

The leasing office is much more professional than a lot of the other apartment complexes in the area and are willing to help you find a place to live. I had a horrible experience with other leasing offices when I was maybe thinking about moving out of Collegetown Terrace to live closer to campus, but it was so ridiculously hard to meet up with someone, that it wasn't worth the trouble. The leasing office responds to emails very quickly (Patrick Hollister and Jennifer Weeks are amazing). The people there have worked at CTT for a long time and take a lot of pride in their community.
CTT has an incredibly convenient location, mostly because it's an easy walk to campus (not too much of a steep slope), and their free shuttle service is amazing. They have even started a shuttle service on the weekends that takes you to Wegmans. You don't think you'll need the shuttle service at the beginning of the year, but when you start to get tired, especially during finals week, it's worth it to be able to get campus in 5 min or so. It's also great during the winter when the sidewalks are slick and icy.
If you have a car, CTT's parking is a little pricy, but it's definitely worth it. It's one of the only places that has covered parking, and you'll always be able to find a parking spot. It's amazing to not have to dig your car out of the snow, and the CTT workers work around the clock to plow roads to and from the garages.
It's so convenient to live in the 106 Valentine building in CTT because the shuttle picks up right outside its door (and it's the first shuttle stop so on busy days you can easily get a seat). The gym and the mailing room are both within this building so you don't have to go outside during the winter.
The only thing I dislike about the building is the noise. It's not horrible, but my upstairs neighbor must have absolutely no awareness that people live below them. It feels like they're constantly stomping. I think my situation might be abnormal because it literally sounds like they drop weights upstairs. Also, if you live in a studio, you can hear everything that happens in the hallway.
Another thing I dislike is the price. Living alone here is really expensive, but I found it nice to live alone the first year of law school so that I can have a place to escape to myself. A lot of law students live here so it's not like you're completely isolated. Three of my closest friends lived in different buildings in the Collegetown Terrace area, so I never felt alone. Next year I'm living with a roommate and it's much more affordable.
Overall, I would recommend living here. It's reliable, safe, and convenient.

CTT

No issues. Overpriced, but modern. Gym is on par with previous city apartments. Shuttle is convenient. Internet has been fine. Walls are on the thin side, but hasn't created problems. Covered parking clutch in the snow.
