Overall rating 7.5/10, based on 50 renter reviews Write a review
Ok value, noisy outside and bad temperature control.
The apartment locates at the top floor, just in front of the freeway. It will be noisy with window open during the day (And I have to do so during the summer). The A/C is not cooling at all. The temperature easily goes to above 85 in September and can still be hot in the afternoon in October. The room is of sufficient size, but the sound insulation is bad that I can easily hear my apartment-mate snoring at night. After all, this apartment is way more affordable for me, so the above disadvantages are relatively tolerable.

Nuevo East
Apartment is nice but bedroom is a little small, and the bathrooms are inexplicably large (not sure why this is). Grad Housing community is nice as well, proximity to fellow students, nice amenities such as gym (not super expansive but has the essentials), fireplace, common areas, and pool etc.
This was more of a one-off issue but I came into a really messy apartment but after talking to HDH they cleaned it up in a few days.

Good place to stay near campus
The complex is quiet, you have BBQs, Laundry, parking, Gym, and pool access.
The best part is that it is only 10 minutes to UCSD and 15 to la Jolla beach by bike.

Great on a budget
You pay for what you get and if you're on a budget, OMS is the best place to stay. I stay in the second floor in a South facing apartment and thus get plenty of sunlight all year round, in the balcony and my room. The rooms, washroom, and common area are spacious, but kitchen gets a bit cramped. In kitchen, you get a fridge, electric coil stove and an oven. You don't get a washing machine but there are 2 laundries located in building 2 and 4. There isn't much greenery in the immediate vicinity of the apartment complex but you can walk to other graduate housing complexes to enjoy a walk. There is no gym either but you can use one in mesa Nueva. Most of the maintenance issues can be fixed with HDH's help.

OMS
The rooms are pretty spacious, good layouts, clean if you maintain it properly, the bathroom is divided into two- a toilet+ sink and a bath+ sink. The kitchen comes with an oven, cooking range and refrigerator ( no microwave). Good lighting and ventilation. The walls are really thin though. Can hear footstomps from the apartment above mine. But overall a great place to be at.

Best bang for your buck
Not the most glamorous, but great value. Spacious enough. Could use more storage space and counter space, but everything I need is here. Best part is that it's close to campus and utilities like internet, water, cable are included. I only pay extra for electricity in terms of utilities.

Average
No other option available, either the one offered or none. The unfurnished condo is especially unfriendly to international students. Too much efforts are needed in order not to sleep on the floor for the first night. Absolutely no support or consideration from the housing management office even when students travelled long journey internationally with little kids
