Affordable and comfortable studio apartment

Overall I have enjoyed living at Carlisle Terrace. It is an old apartment building in the Highland Park area. It is close enough to campus that it only takes me 10 minutes or less to drive to campus. It is also bike-able (I just don't currently own a bike), but it is in a different area of town, so I feel like I am away from school when I am at home. Being an older apartment building there are some maintenance issues, and I would say that is one of my biggest issues, more so because the maintenance service is inconsistent. Sometimes they respond rapidly, and sometimes they never respond at all. I think that is an issue across the board with all Southside Apt Co properties. Also, there is no central heating and cooling. There is a radiator heater and a window unit air conditioner. For me this is not an issue, but it is an adjustment to consider. I really like the building because it has a lot of character. There are also tons of windows, and I enjoy natural light. The rent is better than most options. I think this can be a great housing option depending on your expectations for your living space. It is not luxurious, but it is comfortable and I feel safe.
