Southside Station
Being close to the school is very helpful. The only issues to get used to are homeless individuals who are often around and the emergency services that you can hear at any time of the day. Everything is updated and parking is in a deck with direct access to the building. Your power bill does get pretty high in the summer.

Units are a little older, but good price for location
An older complex, but the floorplans are spacious and the location is right by UAB so I rarely ever have to drive. The rent is cheaper than the nearby newer complexes by UAB too. You do live right by the hustle and bustle of UAB traffic so some car/ambulance/helicopter noise can often be heard in the background. The apt is walking distance to a couple of restaurants in the area and a nearby Publix. Parking is in a secure UAB deck. The complex does not have amenities such as a pool, gym, office space, etc. It's simply just your apartment.
