~OK~ Apartment

Positive -

Very spacious apartment, lots of storage with a balcony. Maintenance is helpful and caring. Switched to online payments a few months ago. Located right across from a grocery store, Home Depot, and other shops.

Negatives -

Located right next to the police and fire stations, so expect lots of sirens. Management only uses paper notes to communicate, doesn't use email/messaging. They were supposed to get a package room before COVID, but they're still using their model apartment as a package room.

Kensington Place

Pros: This apartment was one of the most affordable options I could find with the amenities I wanted like a dishwasher and elevator in the building. Some of the apartments, including mine, have hardwood floors. My apartment is very spacious. There are a few laundry rooms in the building. It is a relatively quiet place to live - lots of older residents. The women in the leasing office are kind and helpful. Plus, they have free uncovered parking spaces!

Cons: the location isn't ideal - it isn't walking distance to much expect a Dave's, which is overpriced and doesn't sell the healthiest/most appealing food options in my opinion. It's about a 15 minute drive to campus. The entire building doesn't smell like cigarettes, but my hallway does and I occasionally smell it in my apartment, so try to get a tour or ask about that!

Kensington Place Apartments

Kensington has very spacious floorplans with newly renovated kitchens and hardwood floors (carpeted units also available). Loved the walk-in closet, balcony, and pantry. Garage parking $60, plenty of free surface parking. Across the street from Dave's market, Home Depot, Marshall's and Office Max. Post office, spectrum (wifi) and burger king around the circle. 10 min drive to campus, so if you're bringing a car, it's a great option!

Pros/Cons

Pros: small gym in the basement, included surface lot (and space for guests!) with optional covered parking (+$50/mo), super quiet, great noise insulation, cool view from top floors, safe, great maintenance team, packages signed for by office, big windows, lots of closet space, clean, three laundry rooms

Cons: relatively far from campus (15 min drive or bike; east of campus), paper-based communication from management, management not responsive to email, relatively expensive ($1000 for 1 bed, 1 bath including utilities (and another ~$40/mo for internet))

Great apartment overall, will be renewing my lease.

Pros: Clean, huge balcony, huge windows, great maintenance team, great location (if you have a car), management responsive to phone calls, packages received/stored by leasing office, quick and easy drive to CWRU (no traffic), across street from Marshall's, Home Depot, and a grocery store, lots of laundry machines, small gym in basement, tons of parking spaces, lots of closet space, walls are SUPER thick

Cons: 3 mi from campus, management unresponsive to emails, communication from management team solely via paper slips rather than emails, no extra storage

Quiet and convenient but not spacious

The place is quiet for the most part. The neighbors, management, and staff are friendly. Supermarket right across the street but that's the only thing worth mentioning in the "shopping center". Pets are allowed and surface parking is free (garage parking requires a monthly fee). Not enough space for the price in the one bedroom units though. Also could use updated kitchen appliances.

I have a lot of friends who live nearby, and it's really easy to go see them. There's a grocery store within walking distance and lots of shops, including a bookstore. I also really like the fact there's a community garden on my street. The neighborhood has excellent public transit (3 buses run by my apartment, for example), and is a 30 minute walk from Case.
It is more expensive to live in Coventry than Little Italy, but it feels much safer, and parking is a lot easier.
I do not go out and meet people so it works for me. You will most likely be meeting older people in the apartment who like to hangout in the lobby, and there is no social scene in the circle. Very safe though with city hall and the police department next door.
Feels safe. Walkable. Lots of restaurants and shops, parking for visitors. Lots of stops for free shuttles and RTA transportation. i think rent around there tends to be higher though because of the location. library near by. I can walk to school but doesnt always feel safe when walking down or up the hill to Little Italy. My drive is only five minutes. Before I had a reliable car, I mostly took the shuttle when I didn't want to walk. Shuttles come every twenty to 45 minutes. It depends on the line and the time of day.
The surrounding area appears to be really nice, especially during the summer when daylight is longer. I’m able to walk around and feel just fine. But in the same breath there’s also been gunshots fired in the parking lot next to my apartment. So I do have to dock points because I wouldn’t say it’s the most unsafe place because in a sense that is an isolated event that hasn’t happened again, but also I don’t personally feel comfortable walking especially to school when there is less light out.
The neighborhood is not too busy. There are restaurants and a grocery store close by and many of the apartment have nice exteriors. It is also right on transit and shuttle routes.
Cedar Fairmount is an ideal location for your first two years of medical school. It is located a brisk 5-7 min drive from the HEC and offers a quaint downtown area. This area includes a bar, several restaurants, a grocery store, and more.
The neighborhood is pretty safe. I mean Mayfield can get a little dangerous, but if you are not out late at night then it is pretty safe.
Life here is convenient. There're a local chained grocery store, HomeDepot, Marshall's, and OfficeDepot in the Circle.
